Our Background

In December 2017, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued Several Opinions on Strengthening and Improving Chinese-Foreign Humanities Exchanges (hereinafter referred to as Opinions), which pointed out that Chinese-foreign humanities exchanges are an important part of the foreign work of the Party and the State, and an important way to consolidate the social and public opinion foundation of Chinese-foreign relations and improve China's opening up.

To strengthen and improve Chinese-foreign humanistic exchanges, it is necessary to adhere to the two-way force of going out and bringing in, enrich and expand the connotation and field of humanistic exchanges, and create an internationally renowned brand of humanistic exchanges.

We will focus on deepening cooperation in Chinese-foreign study abroad and cooperation in running schools, international collaborative innovation among universities and scientific research institutes, supporting representative projects such as Chinese language, traditional Chinese medicine, martial arts, gastronomy, festivals and folklore, and other intangible cultural heritages, and carrying out cooperation in cultural relics, fine arts and music exhibitions, hosting of large-scale sports events and development of key sports projects. Efforts should be made to promote more open channels and platforms for Chinese-foreign humanistic exchanges, with more diversified forms and content, and to sink the centre of gravity closer to the people, exploring new forms of exchanges and areas of cooperation.
